Fiesta Arts Fair (Day 1)
I got accepted to this art fair and it’ll be my first time there. I’m really looking forward to it. If you’re in the San Antonio area, I hope to see you there. More about the event below:
(From the organizers) Fiesta Arts Fair started as a small fair in 1973, it has grown into a highlight of the annual Fiesta San Antonio ® celebration, with an annual attendance of approximately 12,000 people. This family-friendly, two-day event is held on the UT San Antonio Southwest historic campus and offers art patrons an opportunity to purchase contemporary and traditional art and craft from approximately 105-115 high caliber selected artists. The Fair also includes live national and regional music, food and beverage booths and an interactive youth art area — all in a beautiful setting, the picturesque and historic grounds that formerly housed the Ursuline Academy and Southwest School of Art, now UTSA-Southwest Campus. Fiesta Arts Fair is an official “kick-off event” for San Antonio’s renowned Fiesta® San Antonio celebration — 11 days of merriment, pageantry, parades and festivals, which bring thousands of visitors to the Alamo City every year in April.
(From Fiesta-SA website) Fiesta Arts Fair, now its 45th year, is an intimate two-day event that offers art lovers and collectors an opportunity to purchase high quality contemporary and traditional art and craft from approximately 115 artists exhibitors. Fiesta Arts Fair is ranked in the top 50 Fine Craft & Art Festivals in the nation by Art Fair SourceBook. The Fair also includes live regional music, Fiesta foods and beverages, and a hands-on children’s art area — all in a beautiful setting on the picturesque and historic grounds of the Southwest School of Art. Proceeds from this event benefit the School’s many educational programs.
Founded in 1965, the Southwest School of Art is a nationally recognized leader in visual arts education, offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree as well as studio art programs for adults, children, and teens. Classes and workshops in many disciplines are taught by faculty and leading artists in cutting-edge facilities. Located on the north end of downtown San Antonio along the Museum Reach of the famed San Antonio River; part of the campus is the historic Ursuline Convent and Academy, the city’s first school for girls. In addition to its teaching mission, the Southwest School of Art offers world-class contemporary art exhibitions as well as lectures and symposia with visiting artists.
